Mike Klinkenborg’s moment led to one of my own Saturday.

The University of Iowa linebacker concluded a week aptly described as an emotional rollercoaster ride by playing arguably his best game in a Hawkeye uniform. An inspired Klinkenborg registered eight tackles as his team posted a 27-17 victory over rival Iowa State.

The Saturday before, Klinkenborg helped spearhead a memorable defensive stand as Iowa escaped Syracuse with a double-overtime win.

Less than 24 hours later, his father suffered a heart attack and passed away.
