Woman Survives 200-Foot Plunge Down SoCal Cliff
The 23-year-old woman who plunged her SUV off a 250-foot cliff and spent the night clinging to some shrubbery was in good condition Tuesday and will likely leave the hospital tomorrow — less than 72 hours after the crash.
Heather Kain’s mother said her daughter was in her GMC Envoy in a cliff-side parking lot in the 1300 block of Paseo Del Mar around 8:30 p.m. Sunday because she was lost and looking for directions.
“There was a truck in the parking lot who bumped into her and she was startled, because it was so dark. And she turned around to see what happened,” her mother, Maura Kain, told KCAL9. “She must have hit her foot on the gas instead of the brake. And the car leaped forward and went over.”
Palos Verdes Estates Police Department Capt. Jim Kronberger said drivers who go over the edge rarely survive.
